Dr. Ayo Elebute was born on the 6th of August 1959 in Ibadan. Heis currently Associate Professor/Reader of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies in the Mass Communication Programme, Bowen University Iwo. He attended Methodist High School, Ibadan (1973-1977) and the School of Basic Studies (A/Level), The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Ibadan (1977-1979).
He obtained (1) National Diploma (ND) Fine and Applied Arts in 1983 (2) Bachelor of Art degree -B.A. with Honours in 1987 (3) Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD) Journalism in 1997 (4)Master of Art degree (MA) African Studies in 1990 (5) Master of Philosophy degree (MPhil) African Studies in 2002 and (6) Master of Science degree (MSc) Mass Communication in 2012. He also obtained a Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) African Studies in 2010 and a Professional Certificate(Management) in 2008.
He was the Managing Editor/Co-Publisher of Accolades Monthly Magazine and News Gate Newspaper. He is the President, Board of Trustees of the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO): Resource Centre for Arts, Culture and Communication Development, the Publishers of three academic journals: Quill Pen, Ijinle-Asa andCorporate Benchmarks. The erstwhile Chairman ofthe Society of Nigerian Artists Oyo State Chapter was a Fine Art Teacher at Methodist High School, Ibadan Oyo State between 1983 and 1984.
He lectured in (1) Fine Arts Department, Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin in 1987-1988 (2) Fine and Applied Arts Department, The Polytechnic Ibadan in 1989-1991 (3) Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos and Ibadan Campuses from 1992 to 2000 (4) Communication and Language Arts Department (Distance Learning Programme) University of Ibadan in the latter part of the 2000s (5) Fine Arts Department,University of Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State in the latter part of the year 2000s. He later served as a Senior Lecturer/Head of Mass Communication Department, Kwararafa University, Wukari, Taraba State, Nigeria in 20 12-2013. He was a Senior Lecturer/Head of Mass Communication Department, Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, Nigeria (2013-2017).
He has contributed scholarly articles to many reputable academic journals, both local and international. He also participated in several art exhibitions alongside foremost local and international artists. He was an art columnist inFoto-File Series with the defunct National ConcordNewspaper and he has contributed articles on severalsocial issues in the Nigerian newspapers and magazines such as: Nigerian Tribune, Third Eye Daily, Daily Sketch, Sunday Sketch, Daily Monitor, Accolades MonthlyMagazine and Society Magazine.

He is the author of a novel titled: Chinua Achebe: Nigeria’s Legendary Novelist. His new novel: Rose and Red,is in the press.
