Biography

Abdul-Ganiyu Ajani Garba is a Christian, married and until March 31, 2017, Professor of Economics at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. He started his university career in ABU, Zaria in 1986 as a Graduate Assistant. He is currently, a visiting Professor in the Economics Programme, College of Social and Management Studies, Bowen University, Iwo. He taught economic theory, mathematics for economics, econometrics and research methodology. But he is now fully committed and devoted to the teaching, research and dissemination of works of grace in Theonomics. He daily studies and meditates on the Bible.  He also studies and reflects on Christian Theology, History of Economic Thought, Economic History and Western Philosophy.

   

Garba trained at the Ahmadu Bello University and at the University of Ibadan between 1981 and 1994 earning BSc. (First Class); MSc. and PhD degrees in Economics. He graduated with a Master of Divinity (Special Programme) in Theology from the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso in July 2020 and attends Oritamefa Baptist Church Ibadan. 

 

Garba has been blessed to serve as Head, Department of Economics ABU (2002-2006); member, Governing Councils, ABU, Zaria (2007-2009) and NISER, Ibadan (2014-2015); Editor, Nigerian Journal of Social and Economic Studies (NJESS), 2007-2013; Director, 2008 Gender Institute, CODESRIA and member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria (2010-2017). He was a Visiting Professor at the University of Ibadan (2008-9) and, a Visiting Scholar at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in 1995 and 1997.
