My experience at Bowen was nothing short of amazing. Imbibing the culture of excellence and godliness, Bowen helped me to achieve academic excellence without discarding my spiritual growth. A major milestone while at Bowen was being the 2012/2013 President of NACOSS (Bowen Chapter). This milestone is a major influencer of my leadership prowess till date.
Moving on to life after Bowen, I have had the opportunity to work with two multinational organizations. My first career opportunity was working with Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers (member of the Standard Bank Group) as an IT Control Officer for 4 years. I remember a statement made by my Head of Department while in Stanbic. He said and I quote “Tosin, you are the reason I’m sending my son to a private school. I have always had my reservations but, seeing how matured you are individually and professionally, I have no doubt in him excelling in a private school.”
This goes a long way in showing how Bowen molded my personality in preparation for life after school. I currently work as a Senior Technology Consultant in KPMG Professional Services, one of the Big Four Consulting and Accounting firms in the world. I can say that the sky is just the beginning and there’s much more impact to come from me as part of my service to humanity.
Thank you, Bowen University!!!!![/stm_teacher_bio][vc_separator border_width=”2″][stm_teacher_bio img_id=”3942″ title=”Adetoyese Kola-Balogun” position=”2016 Bowen university Graduate”]My name is Adetoyese Kola-Balogun, I am Software engineer at Systemspecs Limited, a leading provider of financial and human capital software solutions in Nigeria and the larger African market through her software suites, Remita and HumanManager.
I graduated from Bowen university in 2016 with a bachelor of science degree (second class upper) in Computer science. The undergraduate syllabus in Computer Science at Bowen University introduced me to a wide variety of computer and computer-related subjects such as data structures, algorithm design, programming languages, computer architecture, operating systems, as well as design patterns and software engineering best practices. This provided me with a rigid foundation in theoretical concept of Computer Science as well as its applications in solving real-life problems.
The world-class knowledge, coupled with the moral values that was instilled in me at Bowen University has been my weapon to breaking boundaries in the outside world. Her motto, excellence and godliness, has been a major guiding principle that governs my daily life in and outside my place of work.
The good reputation of high quality education standards, good moral standards, facilities and distinguished faculty members are the reasons why I would recommend Bowen University anytime, any day.[/stm_teacher_bio][vc_separator border_width=”2″][stm_teacher_bio img_id=”3945″ title=”Terfa Tortema” position=”2012/2013 General Secretary of NACOSS (Bowen Chapter)”]I am Terfa Tortema, an alumnus of Bowen University, Iwo.
My experience at Bowen has been fundamental to my career growth and work ethic. Imbibing the culture of excellence and godliness, Bowen University helped me to achieve academic excellence while understanding that Godly value and traits are to be revered and expressed in my daily dealings.
A major milestone while at Bowen was being the 2012/2013 General Secretary of NACOSS (Bowen Chapter). This platform was of huge benefit at that point in time and served as a template for further leadership opportunities that arose after the completion of my studies.
I currently work with PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Technology Consultant with area of expertise in Data Analytics and Robotics Process Automation. My show of diligence and dedication to my work has made several colleagues ask about my previous institution of study. I always proudly respond that I am a graduate of Bowen University.
I remain appreciative of the environment and culture created by the leadership of Bowen University.[/stm_teacher_bio][vc_separator border_width=”2″][stm_teacher_bio img_id=”3944″ title=”Olaleye Tosin” position=”2016 Bowen University Graduate”]I am Olaleye Tosin. My Experience in Bowen was an exciting and enlightening one. I entered Bowen University in 2012 and I was admitted to the department of computer science and Information technology. The first semester seemed pretty easy with not difficult courses and I had a pretty good result which was a good start for me. Different semesters passed by and the courses were getting more difficult, but I ensured I worked really hard to get good grades in my courses. I engaged in several extra-curricular activities; I was in the drama unit of the fellowship and I played some sports as well which helped me to have a good school-life balance.
One thing I had doubts about was what I wanted to major in as an area of specialization because computer science is a broad course with several aspects, but things became clear due to the opportunity we were given to take part in internship programme for a semester.
I Interned in the IT department of British American Tobacco which was very enlightening for me. I found out about other aspects of IT and I discovered my strengths and worked on my weaknesses. My final year project was the highlight of my experience where I had the opportunity to research and work on a topic that I identified as a problem (Student Attendance) and I implemented a Barcode technology. I also learnt and implemented about other web and mobile technologies. I was also able to articulate my thoughts and work with a presentation at the end of the project which also helped me to sharpen my presentation skills.
My work experience started during my NYSC at an IT firm in Lagos (CWG Plc) where I worked as a front-end developer and I worked with different web technologies. I also supported the Business Analysis team and interacted with clients on the delivery of each solution that was developed. I was retained after my NYSC with CWG PLC and I was employed as a Solution Analyst where I was responsible for Gathering client’s requirements, documenting functional & non-functional requirements and Performing analysis. I translated high-level requirements into interactive flows and artifacts, and transformed them into beautiful, intuitive, and functional user interfaces. I assisted multiple teams to ensure that project goals are achieved according to project plans, and in accordance with project priorities.
After working with CWG for a couple of months; my career path got clearer and I discovered my strength in IT Business Analysis. I was promoted some months after as a Business and Product Analyst where I managed the lifecycle of a new security solution that CWG was putting into the market. This was a great experience because I had the opportunity of meeting several people during business meetings, I became a liaison between the technical team and the business team, and I kept evolving and growing. Later, I moved to Canada and I got a part time job with British American Tobacco where I am currently working as a Business Intelligence Analyst and I’m learning Data and business analytics in IT.
I am currently doing my master’s degree in Information Systems Engineering at Concordia University in Canada and I’m learning more about the new IT trends and my focus is on Business and Data Analytics.
Bowen impacted my life in different aspects. Some of the things I learnt include;
[/stm_teacher_bio][vc_separator border_width=”2″][stm_teacher_bio img_id=”3943″ title=”Ige Mayokun Obaloluwa” position=”2016 Bowen University Graduate”]My name is Ige Mayokun Obaloluwa and my experience at Bowen University was a life-changing one for me. Coming from secondary school where I was an average student, I had various experiences in Bowen that shaped my life and made me a better person. A turning point for me was during our orientation week and the speaker talked about how to succeed as a student and also how our target should be to make the VC’s list. I made a resolution that day that I was going to give my best and try to learn as much as possible. That decision has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life and I’m glad I made that choice. I met amazing students with the same drive and passion for learning as I am and they became my friends and eventually became my family. And the lecturers in Bowen were also really helpful when it comes to counseling and always guiding us on how to improve and become better.
New Horizon was another part I loved in school which really exposed me early to what the industry expect.
After my graduation, I worked as a Software Engineer for 2 years at SystemSpecs Limited, a leading provider of financial and human capital software solutions in Nigeria and the larger African market with software such as Remita and HumanManager. I was able to apply some of the principles I learned back in school here and I also got the opportunity to lead a team to develop a new application.
I am currently doing my master’s degree in Computer Science at Concordia University in Canada with a focus on Machine Learning.[/stm_teacher_bio][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_accordion][vc_separator color=”custom” border_width=”2″ accent_color=”#b22929″][vc_tta_tabs stm_tabs_style=”style-2″ style=”flat” shape=”square” color=”blue” active_section=”10″ no_fill_content_area=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Staff List” tab_id=”staff-list-private-commercial-law”][stm_teachers teachers_sort_by=”department” teachers_department=”computer-science” teachers_per_row=”4″][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_tabs][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”3940″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1581071187714{margin-top: -20px !important;}”]
