Dr. Oluwaseyi Kikelomo Israel is a medical doctor. She obtained her first degree; Bachelor of
Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology
Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria in 2002. She obtained a Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH)
from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria in 2008 and Master’s in Public
Health (Field Epidemiology Practice) from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria in 2016,
in conjunction with the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
She underwent a residency training program in Community Health at LAUTECH Teaching
Hospital Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria. She became a Fellow of the West African College of
Physicians (FWACP) in 2016. She was a Lecturer in the Department of Community Medicine,
University of Medical Sciences Ondo, Ondo State, Nigeria (May 2017 – April 2018). She is
currently a Lecturer in the Department of Community Medicine, Bowen University, Iwo and
Honorary Consultant in Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria.
She is currently the Programme Coordinator for B.Sc. Public Health Programme in the
University.
Dr. Oluwaseyi Kikelomo Israel as a field epidemiologist has contributed immensely to the
Nigerian Health system. In the course of her career she has been involved in the training and
supervision of medical students and community health extension workers, as well as providing
guidance to resident doctors on community health practices. She is also involved in capacity
building of public health workers at the state and LGA level. She has been involved in several
disease outbreak investigations, notably among them was the investigation and control of Ebola
outbreak in Nigeria in 2014. She is also involved in the strengthening of Polio Eradication
Initiatives and provision of supportive supervision during routine and supplementary
immunization activities. She is a member of several professional bodies including the Nigerian
Medical Association (NMA), Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria
(MDCAN), Association of Public Health Physicians of Nigeria (APHPN), African Field
Epidemiology Network (AFENET), Epidemiological Society of Nigeria (EPISON) and
International Epidemiological Association (IEA). She has several publications in peer-reviewed
journals.
