Dr. Ajibola Idowu hailed from Odo-Owa in Oke-Ero LGA, Kwara State where he had his Primary and
Secondary educations, respectively. He studied Medicine and Surgery at the College of Health
Sciences, University of Ilorin and bagged his MBBS degree in 2004. His passion for population health
made him to enroll in Community Health residency training at the Obafemi Awolowo University
Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife where he finished in October 2013 with Fellow West African College of
Physicians (Public Health) and Member, Nigerian Medical College of Physicians (2010).
He commenced lecturing at the Department of Community Medicine, Bowen University, Iwo in
January 2014 and became a Senior Lecturer in the Department in 2017. While in the Department, he
has served as Coordinator of both Rural and Urban postings for medical students. He takes pleasure
in teaching Epidemiology, Occupational Health, Family& Reproductive Health, and International
Health. He was the Level Adviser for the 2018 graduating set of medical students. He is the current
Chairman, Medical Student Induction Committee, and the Immediate past Chairman, BUTH Cafeteria
Committee. He was also a Member, BUTH Strategic Planning Committee.
He was the Physician-in-charge of the Bowen University Primary Healthcare Centre, Areago,
Ogbomoso (2017-2019). He has authored 17 articles and co-authored 9 others which had appeared
in peer-reviewed journals. He bagged His MPH degree at the Royal Tropical Institute, Amsterdam
(The Netherlands) on 4 TH September 2020 with a distinction in Epidemiology and overall Merit in the
course.
