Olalekan Monsir Awoniran obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering in 2010, a Master’s Degree in Computer Science in 2015, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria.
He is highly passionate about computer science research, especially in systems development, data science, data analytics, and data management. His immediate recent researches involved the application of machine and deep learning for the prediction of type I and type II diabetes in individuals. Again, in another research, he created a framework for the capture of tacit knowledge from practitioners in African traditional medicine. In his Ph.D. research, he established relationships between various ailments based on the medicinal properties of herbs used for their treatment or management using data science techniques. The result of this is currently being used in creating a curriculum for the formal training of African traditional medicine in formalized citadels of learning.
Currently, He is working on the identification of handwriting of individuals using machine and deep learning techniques to assist forensic endeavors. In the nearest future, he hopes to apply his machine and deep learning skills in healthcare in the prediction of the prevalence of diseases, the creation of treatments for such diseases, and the improvement of personalized medicine.
